Vanessa: Would you please start by telling us a little bit about yourself?
Marie-Nicole: I’m a retired RN case manager who always wanted to write. I lived in Nashville, TN, for about four decades but I moved back to Western Kentucky a couple years ago to be closer to my aging mom. The love of my life is a Shetland Sheepdog by the name of Cassie, who, as far as I can tell, is a rock ‘n’ roll diva in disguise.
Marie: What books or authors have inspired your writing?
Marie-Nicole: Anya Seton wrote on wonderful book called THE GREEN DARKNESS back in the 70s, I think. It dealt with past and present lives and how what happened in a previous life could affect the present life. My first completed novel, SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS, had a similar premise. Also, Annie Solomon is one of my idols when I want to pick up a romantic suspense novel.

Vanessa: What is one thing about you that your readers would find surprising or never guess about you?
Marie-Nicole: I have a severe addiction to watching British TV series on Netflix.
Vanessa: Can you tell us about your current work in progress, perhaps you could share a favorite fact or piece of fascinating information it?
Marie-Nicole: My current work in progress is a romantic suspense novel, BECAUSE OF YOU. It’s set in Nashville where I lived for forty years. It’s the second book in my Music City Heat series. LOVE ME IF YOU CAN was the first book in the series which involves a blended family of six siblings who run a P.I. agency. BECAUSE OF YOU features Alison, the only sibling not directly involved in the family business. She’s a nurse case manager which is a position I held for ten years before retiring. The hero, Nick Vitelli, is a P.I. who works for the family agency. In a story we see all too often in the headlines, Allison’s best friend, another case manager who is five months pregnant, has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. They, along with Detective Tess O’Malley (from LOVE ME IFYOU CAN) work together to find the mom-to-be before it’s too late.
Vanessa: If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. With whom would it be?
Marie-Nicole: That’s tricky because I can’t imagine being someone other than who I am, but if it were possible to switch places, I’d choose my friend and wonderful author Cindy Nord, who has an outgoing personality and never meets a stranger. I’m more the introverted, reclusive type of writer. I’d love to have her easy-going manner. It’s impossible to be depressed around her. She’s just FUN.
Gaele: Where do your ideas come from? Do you set out to ‘outline’ a plot and situations, or do you let the characters take you along for the ride, and clean it up later?

Marie-Nicole: Ideas come from everywhere, TV, newspaper, etc. I’m more of a character-oriented writer. I don’t outline. I outlined a story once and couldn’t work on it for several weeks because I felt like I’d already written it. Eventually, I did go back and write the book.
Gaele: Best advice you have ever been given about writing?
Marie-Nicole: LOL, an author pal of mine once told me always to remember that a review is only one person’s opinion. Comes in handy when I get one of those I-hated-this-book reviews.
Gaele: What do you do to relax, when you aren’t writing or thinking about it?
Marie-Nicole: Easy, I watch Netflix. That’s the only way to stop thinking about writing, and even that doesn’t always succeed.
Rachel: If you could visit any time period and location (past or future) when and where would you go?
Marie-Nicole: Given I’m also addicted to the comings and goings of Downton Abbey, I’d love to visit Highclere Castle during its heyday. Of course, I’d probably end up as the scullery maid as opposed to a wealthy, highborn beauty.
Vanessa: I’m a bit of an author stalker and I love going to signings and conventions. Do you have any upcoming appearances?
Marie-Nicole: I’ll be at the Indie Romance Conference being held in Lebanon, TN, in October 2013. Hope to see y’all there.

I loved the interview and will be adding More great books to my TBR list….:)
Thank you for this giveaway and what you do as an author and as a Blogger!!!
angelalove@uwmail.com
Well, I don’t blog as much as I should but once All My Children and One Life to Live hit the internet “airwaves” I might have more to talk about. I love my soap operas.
Great interview. Marie-Nicole is a recently new author to me (yesterday). Marie-Nicole you have some awesome book covers.
Lorimeehan 1 @aol.com
Thanks, Lori. I love hot men on my covers. Wouldn’t mind having one underneath my covers, too. LOL
First of all, that’s so much to the wonderful JeepDiva blog for allowing me to highlight one of my favorite, and probably the most difficult to write, books. I’ll be in and out today, but I’ll be checking inbetween walking at the Y (trying to get rid of my writer’s butt) and chaufeurring my mom to have her photo taken.
It seems to me that a higher than average percentage of erotic romance writers are or used to be nurses. I wonder why?
acm05atjuno.com
Unless it’s our comfort with the body, I don’t know. It might be for the women of my generation (Baby Boomer here) that nursing and teaching were the most common professions chosen. Today’s younger women have many more options for choosing a career.
Now about that cover—it’s my favorite of all my covers, and I do love sexy men on my covers. When I filled out my cover art info sheet, I was very specific about wanting my hero and my heroine up against the wall. Immediate cover love!
Best of luck to all of you who take the time to read the interview and to comment. I really appreciate your participation. *Happy Face*
Holding Her Own has a great cover! Says it all!
maryjo(at)maryjoburke(dot)com
Thanks, Mary Jo. HOLDING HER OWN has always been my best selling book, and the cover art plays such a large part.
Thanks, Mary Jo. HOLDING HER OWN has always been my best selling book.
It is always interesting to learn about an author. Enjoyed the interview and will be adding your books to my reading list. Also love the sexy men on the covers. Thanks for the giveaway.
bhometchko(at)hotmail(dot)com
Best of luck!
It’s so nice that you are able to be there for your mom. Most people don’t realize how much work can be involved in that. Good for you. Just remember just because she may not say it, she does appreciate everything you do.

I actually sold my house in Nashville and moved back to my hometown to be close to her. We actually live in the same apartment building, but each of us has our own apartment. I’m very fortunate still to have her in my life. I believe in cause and effect. Hopefully, my son will be as supportive in the future. *Keeping fingers crossed on that one, for sure.*
Loved the interview. Cabt wait to read all are on my list.

Vanessa, I’m using my Twitter account as WordPress has been giving me fits when posting on other webpages or blogs since my daughter transferred my own webpage from my last host place. I love that you send me invitations to me about authors I love, and those that are new to me…..*S*
Wishing you both all the best, and continued success!
Thank you!

I’m very happy to see your newest book and wish you continued success.
ranma@cox.net
Hey there, Ranma! I know this gal from the La Femme Nikita storyboard days. I used to write fan fiction and Ranma keeps an archive of all those great stories–not must mine, but so many others as well.
Thank you, sweetie. I owe the writing bug to Michael and Nikita. Not quite true. I always wanted to write a book, but Michael and Nikita prompted me to get busy.
I really enjoyed your interview. You’re a new Author for me but not for long. I love that cover. Can’t wait to read your books. I love reading about siblings in books.

A wonderful interview thank you & a very healthy attitude to reviews that may not be as positive as one would like.
marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
A writer has to develop a thick skin, not easy for most of us. I don’t mind fair reviews. I can always learn something from them.
Thanks for the awesome interview, love the cover.
Great giveaway.
dragonkeep62(at)gmail(dot)com
Love those covers! Thanks

You gals stay up later than I do.. Of course I’m still up, but thanks so much for the positive response.
I used to love BBC TV. Coupling, Dr. Who, Being Human, Prime Suspect, Midsomer Murders, Cracker, Hamish, Footballer’s Wives, Hex, HollyOaks, Life on Mars, Kiss Me Kate, so many good ones, my husband didn’t understand now he loves the one where they re-do a car and sell it. Loved to sit up late and watch the BBC.. Congrats on the new release. Sounds wonderful.
For some reason some of my best sales have come from the UK. I watched a log of those shows, too. I also loved: What Not to Wear, Changing Rooms, and the garden show with Alan Titschmarsh (?spelling).
Thanks for the chance to win.
dragonkeep62(at)gmail(dot)com

Thanks. Holding Her Own’s cover was my favorite of all my Samhain Publishing covers.
Ooooooo!! Why haven’t I heard of Marie’s books before? Whoo hoo!! I love to discover new authors! Thanks, Vanessa!!
charli denae at aol . com
I can’t for the life of me imagine why you (and almost everyone here) haven’t heard of me. Must be because there are thousands of indie authors. All of my books aren’t indie, either. However, I’m not prolific. I simply can’t write three to six books a year.
Thanks for dropping by!
Loved the interview and those sexy covers did me in! sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com
Glad you liked!
Thanks for sharing the great interview post (those covers have peeked my interest in reading them)
