Warm Up Your Winter Blog Tour

Hi, everyone!  I want to thank The Jeep Diva for having me today as part of my WARM-UP-YOUR-WINTER BLOG TOUR.  On most of the blogs on this tour, I’ll be revealing excerpts from the sixth book in my vampire series called, GATES OF RAPTURE (12/24).  I created the tour with the hope that you might get to know my Guardians of Ascension, who are my most beloved winged vampire warriors.  I know the covers have wings on them, but the books aren’t about angels AT ALL…just vampires…with wings.  I also have goodies for you to win, details to follow!

 

GATES OF RAPTURE is the sixth installment of Guardians of Ascension and features Warrior Leto, a famous, ancient Warrior of the Blood, six-six, long straight black hair, piercing blue eyes, and built to battle death vampires for centuries and drive the ladies crazy!  Major yummy!  Romantic Times Magazine gave GATES OF RAPTURE a 4 ½ Star, TOP PICK review!  I couldn’t be happier!

I’m a fan of tender scenes in romances, ones that feel real, that give you a deeper look at how a couple interacts, and which shows a warm level of intimacy.  In this scene, after a tough night, Leto and Grace wake up after having shared the same bed.  What follows, after this excerpt, is a love scene, which I didn’t include here out of respect to my wonderful blogsite host!  But if you want to read the rest of the scene, just for fun, CLICK HERE!!!

EXCERPT FROM CHAPTER 12:

Several hours later, Grace awoke to a strange sensation that she couldn’t place at first: a kind of rumbling. She thought, tank, maybe?  But as she came more fully awake, she realized that Leto was snoring, his head face down on his pillow.

She smiled and rubbed his shoulder gently. How normal this seemed.

The snoring jerked to a stop and he lifted his head. He blinked a couple of times then rubbed his face with both hands. “I couldn’t breathe. I was dreaming I was flying way too high and there wasn’t enough oxygen.” His eyes rolled as he turned to look at her. He blinked some more.

She continued to rub his shoulder slowly back and forth. “I’m not surprised. I think you were suffocating against your pillow.”

He dropped his head back down on the pillow. He chuckled, shifting to look up at her. “I sure hope I wasn’t snoring.”

“Not at all.” She didn’t mind lying.

The wrinkle between his brows relaxed. “That would be wretched, indeed. Nothing so unromantic as a loud snore. But I must say, you’re a terrible liar.”

She chuckled, stretched, and turned to look out the back window. Dawn had broken. “I always forget how high up in the foothills of the White Tanks Mountains Antony’s villa is. I can see a lot of the peaks from here. Oh, look, there’s a deer on the lawn. A doe.”

Leto shifted on his side. Because of the breh-bond, she could feel the sheet tug at his legs until he kicked the tangle away. He moved closer and stretched out beside her. He draped his arm over her stomach.

His forest scent drifted up and teased her nostrils. Desire, always so close to the surface because of the breh-hedden, swirled through her body.

“Meadow,” he whispered. He leaned over and kissed her cheek, then her throat…

BIO: I was ten when I first watched an old movie version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and loved it!  Movies led to books, which led to writing and after a good long while, publishing.  I wrote sweet Regency romance for Kensington for 19 years and recently fell in love with paranormal, although I’ve always had a thing for vampires.  I currently write paranormal romance for St. Martin’s Press but I self-publish as well.  Building an online platform has been an enormous but rewarding challenge.  I think all the changes in publishing will alter how authors approach the business going forward and I for one am thrilled to have so many options.
