Country Mouse by Amy Lane & Aleksandr Voinov is a forthright tale of dominant Malcom Kavanaugh and ’country mouse’ American Owen Watson.  Malcolm finds himself in a high pressured job; his stress relief is his ability to dominate his sexual partners, thus allowing him to exercise control in his personal life in lieu of a regimented professional life. Things though are not always as they seem  as Malcolm has another side to his sexual personality.

Owen Watson is an American on holiday with a close friend when he encounters Malcolm in a pub.  Malcolm is immediately drawn to the potential sub as he envisions sexual release and gratification on the horizon with no strings attached.

The authors’ portrayal of the two men is brilliant and delicate. Although Malcolm is characterized as a dominant personality with a smug attitude, his true nature appears as he yearns to release all his inhibitions and be taken care of emotionally and sexually. I was intrigued by the honesty in the writing and the freshness displayed as the men forged forward in their relationship. Truly brilliant and authentic. Owen, although by nature more submissive, realizes Malcolm’s need for freedom and allows him to explore both sides of his personality with no shame.

Malcolm and Owen complimented each other in want, personality and spirit, thus finding a soul mate when least expected. A wonderful tale of sexual exploration and desires bridging the gap of Malcolm and Owen’s once lonely existence.
