Prince Quinn of the Var is an ambassador for his people. He is very friendly, charming and funny. When he meets Dr. Tori Elliot he is instantly attracted to her and begins his seduction. Tori was briefly in the last book, The Savage King, when she came at the end to help with a biological cleanup. She decides to stay on planet to be sure there is no contamination and to study the local plants and soil.
Quinn is a very charismatic hero that you instantly love. He is like most Var men and doesn’t want to ever fall in love but when he meets Tori and the sparks start to fly, he is lost. I liked how Tori was serious about her job as a scientist but she also knows how to have a good time. She is cautious and reserved at times but she tempers it by also being fun and loyal to the people she works with and loves.
I also really enjoyed how Quinn had to work to get to Tori. It was refreshing to see a heroine make the hero work for it a little and not fall right at his feet. When Tori is repeatedly gone in the mornings and Quinn has to track her down, I always got a little kick out of it. And the on-going joke about the teddy bear is hilarious and very creative. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.
